The History of
the Spa Hot Tub
The history of spa hot tubs (spa's) can be traced to back before the recording of history records. A time when early man made use of the earth's natural hot water springs. These hot water springs fed streams and pools, which were used for warmth and natural treatment by early man and woman. Early man was well aware of the healing properties of natural hot water springs. Ancient Egyptians used hot water baths for therapeutic value. As early as 600 B.C., Phraortes (King of Media) built one of the first known spa hot tubs. Great philosophers of Greece also make mention of the therapeutic value of hot water. Grecians were known to have built structures around hot water springs. The Roman Empire also made use of the earth's natural hot water springs by constructing stone chambers and temples around these hot water outlets, some time before the second century (Click here to visit the Roman Jacuzzi Spa Hot Tub Bath website). Then eventually, the Roman spa baths of present day Bath, culminated into a large complex with multiple spa hot tubs and bathing areas. By the mid 1900s, the first true jacuzzi spa hottub as we know then today were built using oak barrels. Today the spa hot tubs come in a range of shapes and styles, made from various materials.
